Why do embedded engineers pick Reach?

The top reasons customers buy from Reach are:

  1. They benefit from our products, experience, and expertise.
  2. We offer competent, responsive, and personal technical support.
  3. We help minimize complexity and risk.
  4. We keep their investment in LCD expertise to a minimum.
  5. We offer long term product availability.

Benefit from embedded LCD product and industry knowledge

In business 20 yearsReach has been involved with embedded LCDs for more than 20 years. We started with monochrome displays, moved up to color STN (passive) displays, and now focus on TFT color modules.

Our embedded display engineers have vast experience with the complexities of LCD displays, including cabling, signal levels, timing, backlight powering, and dimming. When you buy from Reach, you’re putting our LCD knowledge, experience and expertise on your team.

We manage the hurdles of embedded LCD supply so you don’t have to

The LCD business is very different from most, and dealing with it successfully requires experience. We have more than two decades of it.

Reach has direct contact with the engineering and supply arms of major, long-time LCD display manufacturers, like NEC and Kyocera, as well as up-and-coming companies like Prime View, Hantronix, Data Image, Evervision, and others.
We monitor the industry through these contacts. We have experience with the lack of standards, and we have some visibility regarding common formats and future changes.

Products are made onshore, which means shorter, consistent lead times

All Reach components are made in the U.S., giving us production flexibility which gives you shorter and more consistent delivery lead times.

Person-to-person embedded display technical support is a phone call away

We understand our embedded LCDs are just one component of your final system, and if you can't get your system into production, you won't be buying our products. We know we have to provide excellent support to help you get your product to production.

A call is all it takes

Let’s say you get stalled at some point in your project. You’re  dead in the water, because some critical piece of information is missing, and you can’t find it.
If you’re a Reach customer, you can talk, live, to an embedded LCD display engineer, who’ll do everything he or she can, to get you the information you need.

In addition, our Web site contains many helpful manuals and a searchable database of FAQs

Minimize complexity, risk, and investment

Most customers do business with us because:

1. Complexity is minimized

  • No graphics libraries and all the complexities they involve.
  • They benefit from short development periods, and quick times to market.
  • They spend very little time away from their main responsibilities.

2. Risk is minimized

  • They’re shielded from the vagaries of the LCD business.
  • No worries about supply chain control or a much larger cost per unit than originally anticipated.
  • We provide stability and will be around for the long haul.
  • No memory leaks and the consequent low-level processor aborts that are the major causes of PC crashes. These are especially problematic in embedded products.
  • No boot-up and shut-down problems. Industry-standard operating systems can take 10 or 20 seconds to boot up and shut down. Not acceptable in most embedded products.

3. Investment is limited

  • Customers’ investment in LCD touch screen technology is as low as possible.
  • Customers can upgrade to a LCD touch screen and get their products off to market as quickly as possible.
  • No expense of ongoing maintenance.
  • Changing screen size to meet customer requirement is easy.

Compare us to our embedded display competition

There are other companies which, at first glance, appear to offer products and services that are similar. But, as you do your research, consider these points:

What’s the reliability of supply?

Ask competitors if they are selling excess LCD touch screen display stock that will change, due to the unpredictable nature of LCD markets. How long will their products be available, and what happens when changes in supply happen?

What kind of support do you really get?

Do they have technical support available by telephone or only via user-moderated forums? If you ask for the pixel clock frequency generated for a specific panel, would you get the right answer, and how long would it take to get?

What’s their real market?

Do they cater to hobbyists, rather than to businesses? While some
hobbyists are very sophisticated, the products they use are often not
designed for commercial use.

Are they really IC manufacturers, looking for a market for their chips? If so,
are they in business simply to sell their chips, or to help formulate the best solution for you?
